How to use One Meter on iOS phone? Soon, users will be able to use a mobile application dedicated to devices manufactured by Apple. In the meantime, you can access your electricity consumption data yourself via a web application - in this article you will learn how to do it in a few simple steps.
Step 1: Use an old Android mobile device
For installation, you will need a smartphone with the Android operating system (minimum version: Android 4.3). This phone will be able to communicate with the OneMeter device and your iOS phone will only read data from the cloud. You can borrow a device or run an old one, and after completing the steps in this step, uninstall OneMeter and / or change your login details so that your data does not fall into the wrong hands.
The OneMeter system consists of three main elements available to the user: A device installed directly on the meter (beacon), a mobile application and a cloud application. We also provide the OneMeter Gateway App. Data from the installed device can be sent to the server in two ways, as shown below:
Method 1 (advertising mode):
Method 2 (synchronization mode):
The device reads the exact measurement data from the electricity meter (through the optical port). Some of them are saved in the memory for later synchronization, and the data from the last reading are broadcast on an ongoing basis via Bluetooth Low Energy.
The OneMeter mobile application is used to install the OneMeter device on the meter, data synchronization (downloading data stored in the internal memory of the OneMeter device and sending it to the server), downloading data from the OneMeter device and sending it to the server continuously (OneMeter Gateway mode) and unpairing OneMeter devices with a counter.
The application in the cloud allows access to data from OneMeter devices (depending on access to the service functions), incl. freely viewing, sharing and exporting data, as well as downloading data via API.
The OneMeter gateway enables automatic transfer of data from the last reading to the cloud. It plays a similar role to the mobile application gateway mode.
Step 2: Install OneMeter App for Android in Gateway Mode
The gate mode enables the continuous transmission of the current reading data from the meter, broadcast by the device. Like the gateway app, it allows you to upload your data to the cloud as soon as you receive it.
How do I install OneMeter in gateway mode?
- Click on the user icon while on the home screen (beacon list)
- Go to the device list.
- If you don’t see any of them, install a new device.
- Expand the options panel by dragging the screen from left
- (figure below).
- Select option 5: OneMeter gateway.
- Make sure you have Bluetooth turned on, the Internet, and the application can use Bluetooth and location services (required for proper operation).
- Switch the operating mode according to your preference.
Wait for the read and confirmation that the device has been successfully installed. If not, repeat this step to make sure your data is read and goes to the cloud.
Zaczekaj na odczyt i potwierdzenie, że urządzenie zostało zainstalowane pomyślnie. Jeśli nie, ponów ten krok aby upewnić się, że Twoje dane są odczytywane i trafiają do chmury.
Step 3: Transfer data from the device / beacon to the OneMeter cloud
The transfer of data to the cloud via the OneMeter Android app is automatic. The same happens when you use the gateway and the OneMeter app. Then the data about your reading goes to the OneMeter cloud, where it is stored and encoded so that no one except you can view the information about your energy consumption. You’re literally one step away from using One Meter with your iOS devices! All you need to do is sign in to the OneMeter Cloud.
Step 4: Log in to the OneMeter Cloud via a browser
On both smartphones and other iOS devices, you can successfully log into the One Meter cloud and monitor your electricity consumption through any browser. If you’ve successfully completed the previous 3 installation steps, now you can track your usage from the desktop at any time.
All you need to do is log in to the cloud https://cloud.onemeter.com/
You can do this from any browser. Thanks to this, you will be able to use the system also with devices with the iOS operating system.
